What is the story of your studio ? We are a Barcelona-based graphic design and visual communication studio, working at local, national and international scales. Founded in 1978 by Claret Serrahima (winner of the Laus Honour Award in 2014), the studio is currently made up of a young, international and multidisciplinary team directed by Daniel Ayuso, and Sandra Parcet, respectively creative and executive director, since 2001. All together, we have more than 30 years of experience in the field.
What sorts of design projects interest you ? Our work covers everything from brand strategy and visual identity to design in multiple disciplines, including art direction, editorial design, packaging, signage, web, mobile applications and much more. We enjoy working on projects for which the client conceives design as an essential pillar of the brand strategy. In all of our projects, we always seek a contemporary language based on strong concepts and ideas, rather than only focusing on trends. According to us, form is the result of a strategy in which quality and creativity are absolutely essential. We like the design to be uninhibited and colorful, while always giving importance to typography and the element of surprise.
What projects are you working on right now ? We are so excited with all the projects we are about to launch and for all those coming up next. In the following months, we are going to launch the new exquisite branding for IMAP, and also the spanish fashion designer Pedro García’s e-shop. For our future projects, we are working on the new Enea’s website, a furniture design company from the Basque Country whose rebranding by us was already launched last year. We are also developing a beautiful project with Inferniño, an idyllic boutique hotel in Galicia.
How do you find inspiration in your daily life ? The primary source of our inspiration is the world of culture in all of its different forms: from music and fashion to film and dance, or also photography and gastronomy. And as everyone knows, Barcelona brings together all of those elements with its own particular cutting-edge and diversified culture. This has made the city one of the foremost world capitals of design for more than twenty five years now, and we feel very much part of it. Interview conducted in November 2015 ©ktlg
