What is the story of your studio? My story is quite ordinary… After working in an agency and as a freelance designer, I had the chance to manage more and more projects and to found my own studio. Since then, I am usually working in a small team of three people, we have never been more than four. It is not easy to find the balance between the ability to undertake big projects and managing all their aspects. The idea is not to become a full-time project manager. I need to do most of the things myself. I would like to find the ideal studio manager to help me on a daily basis!

How do you select the projects you want to work on and your collaborators? The selection is quite natural. In general, if I am attracted to a project... I’m in. I like getting out of my comfort zone, trying new things, working with people I don’t know, giving myself challenges. I move away from routine to diversify my practice and avoid boredom. As for collaborators, I am fairly loyal. I am used to work with the same people and they often become my friends. Paris is a city filled with creative people and potential collaborations.

How would you describe your signature? Do you think it is important to stand out in an era where creative studios are growing on all sides? Colour is very important in my practice, and I am well known for my experimental approach. It has always been difficult for me to put precise words on my work. I always try to get involved as much as possible within my creations, whether they are personal projects or commissioned work. It is true that the number of creative studios keep growing in recent years... but it’s a big world out there. There is an infinity of possibilities in our field. I also realised that there is more and more female studios around me, it is very encouraging.

What are your references in terms of graphic design and creation? I have a collection of Graphis Annual bought on eBay ten years ago that I keep flipping through. I also have the chance to travel to Japan, a country that I love. There are plenty of vintage books, it is a real paradise. Interview conducted in February 2018 ©ktlg
