What's the story of Super ADD ? It was summer 2012… Cotton Disco came back from London and started Super ADD. The studio started holding parties displaying art installations. We presented things we made during these parties, in this way people could see our works while enjoying the music. We did it for about a year, amongst other projects. People started to know us, and some of them requested us to do works such as stage design or event organisation. NOT TODAY magazine was the first one to invite us to do set design, for its second issue. After this collaboration, we continued organising parties, then more commissions came in… We really enjoy our daily life, and we plan to do more international collaborations.

How would you summarise your work ? We have been doing installation art since our beginning. Our work is mainly focused around real three-dimension space, but we are also graphic designers. We enjoy working with objects and exploring how they interact with each other. We mostly create still lifes with vivid color… it is how we could summarise our work. We are interested in several things, 80s culture, Arcane Lore… Our work is inspired of many backgrounds.

Do you think current graphic designers have to look beyond their domain ? Yes of course. Every artist, designer, or anyone who works in creative fields, must always be ready for new stimulus and never stop exploring the world. After a few years of working, we not only enjoy art but we are also interested in other things like marketing, research… We always design our projects with the objective to make their final result the best as possible. This is definitely part of our job.

Do you think your work is connected to your locality ? Yes. Many of our works require lots of objects, props, material to be done, which are usually purchased at local shops. We grew up in Taiwan and were strongly influenced by Asian culture, even if Cotton spent a few years in the United Kingdom. The things we see, the place we live in… it affects our work. We like how everything is connected. Interview conducted in November 2015 ©ktlg
