What is the story of Guillaumit ? I started my professional activity at Gangpol & Mit. In this duo based on an audiovisual project, I was in charge of creating all the graphic identity and the videos projected on stage. Little by little, different structures offered me to create concerts posters and illustrations, both for magazines and children books. Today, I am working as a freelancer, running in parallel personal art projects and commissioned work — mainly in the cultural and scientific fields.

You assume a particular style. Can you describe it briefly ? Do you consider yourself to be more of a graphic designer or an illustrator ? My graphic style has developed very gradually, but from the beginning I have worked from simple geometric shapes, which I blend, assemble, stack and deform indefinitely, by means of numerous clicks. My pictures are connected to the aesthetic of minimalist video games. There is also in my work a strong influence of Russian poster artists, and others between The Shadoks and Gaston Lagaffe. I do not consider myself a pure illustrator. Like many people today, I juggle between different disciplines, trying to respond to orders in a fair and relevant manner.

How do you adapt your work to different media and projects ? Have you ever exhibited your work ? Working on different projects and media is one of the things I love most about my work. Since the beginning of my practice, my work has been quite decompartmentalised. I had to learn quickly how to move from video to print, then from print to volume. I regularly exhibit under my name, printed matters in very limited edition, interactive installations and sculptures, particularly in the Arts Factory gallery, or else at the Gaîté Lyrique with which I have often collaborated.

What would you dream to work on ? What was your most significant project ? I am currently developing a project of animated web-series very ambitious. This is progressing well, but nothing is yet gained. Let's pray that it will happen… This year I particularly enjoyed working with the scientific sector : Cap Sciences in Bordeaux for whom/which I created a lot of media, and the Cité des Sciences in Paris for which we created a FullScroll website.
